Field deployable, high fidelity NOx spectrometer
In collaboration with NOAA, HPD is developing a new capability for atmospheric researchers to provide fast (~1Hz), high sensitivity (< 0.1 ppb 2-sigma precision) multi-channel measurements of ozone and three oxidized nitrogen (NO, NO2, NOy) species for atmospheric research. The underlying analytic technique is Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) measurement of NO2, with conversion of the other species to NO2 for their measurement. Detection of NO3 and N2O5 is even better, at <5 pptv precision within the same instrument or as a separate instrument. Advantages include a compact, robust instrument design, yielding simultaneous measurement and zeroing for all species with identical time response and sensitivity.
